It is recommended that the Agency
appoint two new members to the Social Services Transportation Advisory Council
(SSTAC).
In
order to comply with the California Public Utilities Code Section 99238, the
RTPA is required to have a nine-member SSTAC in place. During the past year two
members have resigned from the Council and replacement members are needed.
The
SSTAC is an active committee that is required by state law to make annual
recommendations concerning unmet transit needs. California Public Utilities Code Section 99238 requires the SSTAC
to consist of specific members of the community who are disabled, elderly or of
limited means, or who are from social services agencies, which provide for
those who are disabled, elderly or of limited means. Members are appointed by the Agency for one-year, two-year, and
three-year terms. New members receive
one-year terms. Currently, several
members have resigned and replacement members are needed for one-year terms.
In
order to fill these vacancies a request was made of SSTAC members for candidates. Members were asked to respond via email.
Larry Scarborough of Far Northern Regional Center and Kay Hudelson of Golden
Umbrella have been recommended for appointment. Both have actively been participating in SSTAC meetings as
non-members, and have completed an application for appointment.
It
is recommended that Larry Scarborough and Kay Hudelson be appointed for
one-year terms to the SSTAC committee.
The
SSTAC and the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) supports the recommended
appointments.
There
are no financial impacts associated with appointing citizens to the SSTAC.
